The annual Share a Meal with Community Shares® event is a great fundraiser benefiting local nonprofit organizations working to address a wide range of issues in their communities. Participating restaurants benefit by increased customer traffic and expanded consumer base, elevated community image, and additional marketing and advertising. Diners get to spend time with people they care about, have a great dining experience and give back to the community--all in one sitting. A winning situation for everyone involved.

What began in 2004 by Community Shares of Illinois to help raise funds for its 80 member organizations has expanded to include Community Shares organizations in other parts of the country. This year, hundreds of restaurants will partner with their local Community Shares to raise money to benefit their communities.

The Share A Meal Web site is a joint project of Community Shares of Illinois and CSI member, the Prairienet Community Network, an outreach service of the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
